I think you're a funny little guy. I remember when I used to think it was cool to waste my time seeing third tier jam bands before I realized that they were all ripping off Phish, that Mikey Houser was dead, and that Bobby Weir is in his 60's.
Assigned seats? is this guy fricking serious? It's called General admission. You can sit where ever the hell you please. The last time I saw a show at the Mahalia Jackson was Govt Mule a few years ago after Jazzfest and it was a fricking free for all in there. Probably has never stepped foot in the Saenger either.
The Sugar Mill fricking blows. I saw Blackstar there and we all left because it was a waste of time, the sound was so bad. Never seeing music there again.

Back during the dark ages (05-08) of no Phish I remember having to resort to Sound Tribe Sector Nine...thanks for coming back Trey

If you are comparing the Sugar Mill to all venues in BR, you would be wrong. The Manship Theater blows everything in New Orleans away, though it's capacity is only 300 or so.

Houser had just died and George McConnell was slowly killing Widespread Panic, before they went on year hiatus.
Phish was "retired."
All of this gave rise to these awful third tier jambands. Lot scum had to convince themselves that something was worth going to see when Trey and JB were both not playing music. I saw some really terrible shite those few years... Particle, STS9, Umphrey's, U-Melt, Outformation, etc.

Gump? Are you fricking 12? We're talking about music kid.
My position on Widespread Panic is pretty well documented on this board. Nostalgia.
I'd say Mule would be a 2nd tier drug band. Far, far better than most.
Do I also need to lecture you on how general admission ticketing works or did you figure out how that works yet?
You're not very good at this.

Or if you appreciate virtuoso electric guitar perfromances, an excellent assortment of cover songs, and blow.
keep it cool, corndog.

Gotta disagree here. I saw Gov't Mule play an incredible show in 2007. Bob Weir came out for "Sugaree" and John Paul fricking Jones came out for "Moby Dick", "Livin Lovin Maid", "Since I've Been Loving You", and "No Quarter."
Oh, and Michael Franti came out for a surprisingly good cover of the Stones' "Play With Fire" definitely the best thing Franti has ever done

There was a little concert that Govt Mule had in 2003 where they played with a shite ton of top class musicians, but it turned out not being very cool because The Saenger Theatre has fricking seats.
Mike Gordon, Jack Casady, Les Claypool, George Porter Jr, Dave Schools, Victor Wooten, Rob Wasserman, Derek Trucks, Bela Fleck, off the top of my head. Such a fricking third tier show. The light show blew and there was no mahl in the lot.
The Deepest End

The String Cheese Incident played there in 2002. It's a badass theater, I hope they have more big names go there after they finish renovation. 10x better than the mahalia jackson theater.
