Trey was actually big time on the down swing by '98. 98 was a transition year for Phish (not for the better) and Trey wasn't "raging" anymore, but playing more textured stuff, or alot of wah pedal for funk. He could still rage, obviously, but by '98 he has lost some chops for sure.

Trey was better than Kang until like 2.0. Then he was more interested in getting faced on oxy than practicing, and hasn't recovered since.
