But Vassar's was way better

The original fiddle parts come from 'Lonesome Fiddle Blues' which Vassar Clements put together in 1948. Charlie Daniels played guitar for him on a 1974/5 album with this song... and then Charlie added his own to it later on... which is true of most everything (music, boats, and sports included..)

parts of an instructional video:

For something a little different Blue Sjy - with Dickie Betts. When asked about playing with the long-hairs in the Old and In The Way band ... (Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Peter Rowan, John Kahn, and John Hartford) he quipped,... "Hair ?...I just see some mighty fine musicians).

Devil Went Down To Georgia is a great song, even though it's far from original

It was one SOB of a hit song..you absolutely couldn't get away from that fricking song. It started getting airplay right about the week I graduated from High School. By the time I got to Panama City Beach,it was the ONLY song that you heard, and it kept up for weeks.
I got sick of it pretty quick, but you couldn't get away from it,and I had always been a Charlie Daniels Fan.still am.

And when you finally did, "Lookin' for Love" took it's place.
