Been a Drive-By Truckers fan for years- up until their most recent album.

I wasn't wild about their most recent album either and I really put off buying it. I am conservative and I'm not a fan of overly political, "in your face" type of music. Someone gave it to me for Christmas. I will say that it is actually good. Very political, but the songs are thought provoking and the music is great. There is a song on there called "Ever South" that is one of their best songs ever, IMO.

Nah man, you got it wrong. FGL, Luke bryan, Cole Swindell, etc. These guys revolutionized country, and it's so much better.

I just gave it a shot because of this. I don't care for it at all, but then again, I only really like one Patterson Hood song.

I'll have to give it another listen. I'm the same way - very conservative, and a lot of the reviews I read mentioned the same thing. It's like they felt they made enough good albums that they could pull something like that off.

If Alexandria is the best place to live in Louisiana we should just blow the entire state up and start again

No, see the placement is key. Close to lots of the other great parts of the State. Open your mind.

...wrong finger

ETA: that like saying Justin Beiber is moving rap in the right direction or the Marooned Five is good for rock music. Country isn't one genre anymore than rock is. It's the difference between rock-n-roll, to metal, to grunge, to punk, to yep even TOP 40. Them boys are just a wee-little (although profitable) sample, one widget from all the different types of country music, and pop is hardly revolutionary.

Florida Georgia line and luke bryan are making country popular again. You may not like them, but they are technically the genre's revolutionaries of this era.

That drive by trucker crap isn't country.

get spotify premium and look around..plenty of "good" country out there...its just the fact that music row has lost itself...the Larry Cordele song that Alan Jackson and George Strait cut about 17 years ago could not have been more true..."murder" was committed on music row...it became all about CMT and $$...and skinny jeans and flat bill hats and such.

to your comment about Sturgill and Isbell...neither one claim to be country...they just make music...and its really good music

as far as current country that doesn't suck and is still "mainstream"...give Miranda Lambert's new one a listen...I was skeptical myself, but its pretty good...she isn't buying in...doesn't have to

Cole Swindell and FGL and Luke Bryan all need to get hit by a bus...but saying that there isn't any "good" country and that Isbell and Simpson are country and they are worse than the bro country guys...is just false and you know it...but nice troll attempt...you got a long thread if that's what you were shooting for.
