Does he get real political at his shows? I've never seen him in concert, and I agree with him politically, but if I pay money to go see a concert, I want to just hear some singing and music and leave all the political BS at the door.

I met him a couple years ago right after the Lafayette theater shooting in a small personal gathering. Security made us leave cell phones, cameras, and any recording device at the door. It was kind of weird. He said some pretty crazy things and I guess he didn't want them recorded. He had his own photographer there that took pictures of us with Ted and his wife then sent a cd later with all the pictures on it.

And to finally answer your question, I'm not going, but wish I were.

They're having trouble selling out. This show could not have happened at a worse time in Baton Rouge. They sent out some $10 off coupons, so I may see if I can afford it now.

I got that same e-mail, and I've never received something like that from The Varsity.

Most Ted Nugent fans in the area live in AP or LP and those people are scared to come into BR at night normally. They're scared to go into BR period after all of these police shootings and BLM protests. The fear is bad right now, really bad.

They sent out a similar email when Scott Weiland had a show at the Varsity a couple of years ago. Matter of fact, it was worse. Think they were doing 2-for-1 tickets for Weiland, not a flat $10 off.

Seen Ted twice: Once in the late 70s, he was in his prime, loud as hell, pretty good. Then once opening for Kiss back in the early 2000s, muddy powerless sound, not good at all, crowd was ready for him to split after the second song. No way he's any better now, more than a decade later.

Plus I guarantee it's going to be a political rant-a-thon and I can't stand that kind of posturing when I came to hear music.

Verdict: Nope.

I caught him in the mid 90's - Tommy Aldridge on drums. Pretty damn good. Now? eh

I would go if I lived in BR. Not going out of my way on a Monday for it though.

I thought about going but I'm trying to save money right now. Even with the $10 off code its still $40. I think it will be a mini Trump rally with non stop Obama and Hillary bashing. Could be fun.

x 2 .... same opinion here brother

saw TN in '83 at the Astrodome .... loud and kick arse show

saw him again on Aug. 19, 2005 at the Biloxi Grand (days before Katrina) and nothing but a political tirade voicing his opinions and working up the crowd in between songs.

If anything Ted's gotten more vocal about his political views much like Vedder and Springsteen except they're on the liberal side. If I want to hear political rhetoric, I'll turn on the TV news networks.

for anyone going, this will likely be tonight's set list

The Star-Spangled Banner
Gonzo
Free-For-All
Snakeskin Cowboys
Guitar Solo
Never Stop Believing
Yank Me Crank Me
Wang Dang Sweet Poontang
Blues Jam
Hey Bo Diddley/Johnny B. Goode
Hey Baby
Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine
Fred Bear
Cat Scratch Fever
Stranglehold

Encore:
The Great White Buffalo

No he is correct. Weiland did a solo show at the varsity not too long before he died.

Yeah, totally agree, saw him twice in the mid-late eighties. Was a beast, great show. Would have loved to see him again. His politics wouldn't bother me, as long as he can still rip it.

Wasn't there a story he told about a pigeon flying in front of his amps and dropping to the floor dead?
