Brief post:

What a truly spectacular slice of songwriting. God exists - this song is proof positive.

Have a nice day.

Have an upvote. Can't ever go wrong with Tears for Fears. My sub 10 year old children sing along to them. That's when you know a band is good.

This song is a classic and the video takes me back to being a teenager in the 80's. Gotta love the Honda Big Reds
My dad had this exact same car, Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III in British Racing Green

As a teen in the 80s, they were always one of those bands that I was pretty neutral about. Really came to appreciate their music later on.

They're an incredible band that probably should have been even bigger than they were in their heyday.

Agreed. Not only the lyrics but the very creative song structure as well.

Unbelievable emotional crescendo. That entire album from 32 years ago, is phenomenal. But “ Woman in chains “ is next level . Incredibly arranged . So free…..

The song that follows it is even more of a masterpiece…”Badman’s Song”

You might be right. Surely more of a vocal masterpiece. Oletta Adams kills it, crazy good time signature, not a song anybody else could recreate. Both songs are near- perfect.

I always replace "doo doo for brains" in the title since it's such a serious song, but it's masterful and one of the best duets ever. Don't forget the secret weapon Phil Collins on drums either. Tears for Fears should be required listening for anyone serious about making music.
