HOLY shite.

This is getting comical.

Forget about oysterhead, ive seen les and his various bands 10-15 times and they were amazing. Frog brigrade was my favorite, they would strech songs out for long arse periods. But i think they were bass oriented funk jam experimental trippy rock, not a jamband though. Les claypool would NEVER be in a jamband, EVER!

So what do you think about your self proclaimed hero Les Claypool sitting in with the dreaded jamband Phish multiple times and even starting a side project with Trey Anastasio?

I bought the album and have seen them live. Really good show. Copeland was on fire.

It is telling that two threads about the band are at the topic of the Music Board.

Accidentally landed on the jam band station today. It was yonder mountain string band. Boring as hell.

do you like traditional bluegrass?

like bill monroe? or del Mcroury?

I'm a huge bluegrass nut, but I also find Yonder boring at times. I've seen them 4 or 5 times and there are moments of brilliance, but overall I find myself yawning at their shows. Same with Railroad Earth, but I do enjoy their studio albums, especially Amen Corner.

IMO bluegrass is best stripped down. one mic, no drums, lots of fiddle and mando.

But if you were a 18-25 year old in 1995 the music means more to you because of the experiences you had. That was the good music back then.

No it wasn't. You are right regarding the experiences, though. People seem to enjoy the experience and lifestyle more than the actual music when it comes to jam band shows.

If there's one thing I've learned from this thread is that Auburn people don't have a good taste in music.

Which is a shame, since Phish is gracing the state of Alabama with their presence on that fateful Friday night.

Phish hasn't played New Orleans since 1999. WTF?!?!?
