Absolutely great concept album out from Steve Aoki. Yes, it's EDM for lack of a better term, but it's really just great concept pop music. Highly recommended all with the good Netflix documentary I'll Sleep When I'm Dead to go along with it. Aoki comes off sort of like a bitch in the documentary, but he's a great musician no doubt.

I watched the doc. To me he comes off as an obsessed over achiever. I didnt realize who his dad was, and then when I did, was surprised to see he didnt help him in any way. The Doc is more about his dad being spectacular, not being around for his family, and Steve trying to live up to his dad and coming to terms with his desire to please his dad, while he was an arse to his family.

was cool to see his beginnings in a scremo band, starting a label with money from Good Charlotte, then throwing wild La house parties.

I dont know if I would praise his musicianship though. Im sure he plays quit a few instruments, but not sure how many on an expert level.

I wouldn't call his new album pop music, its straight up electro house. But electro house is heard alot in the mainstream today. Electro house is my least favorite electronic genre.

I don't care how good you say this album is, people like Steve Aoki who have made a mockery of Electronic Music can go eat a dick.

Call me when the guy is sounding like Hybrid, Sasha & Digweed, Orbital, Chemical Brothers and he stops doing childish things like throwing cakes off the stage into the crowd.

People like him remind me of "cartoon rave" back in the early 90's. People who have a clue laugh at "artists" like him.
