I honestly think that Browne's cover has to be one of the top 10 cover songs ever. Anybody have an opinion on this?

I like the Load Out/Roadie Song and typically turn it off when it gets to that part, especially when the ladies voice kicks in. Load Out is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Also need to throw in that The Pretender is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I am a huge Jackson Browne fan and the Load Out is one of my favorites but I prefer the original of Stay and I usually don't listen to the cover when it gets to that track.

Agree with the last two posts. Also, when his acoustic albums were released a few years back I got a whole new appreciation for JB.

One of my favorite songs ever and easily my favorite JB song. I love the intro to that song on the acoustic album with the guy shouting "Do you remember Birds of St. Marks?!" And JB, after a funny comment, just says, "Yeah, you wanna hear it?" So fricking cool.

Edit: Here is the quick video of the intro

ladies voice

Have you heard David Lindley do it? (Yes, you have. Even on the album he sings it first then Rosemary Butler then he comes back in, in falsetto.)

Actually, I believe it's Browne first, then Rosemary, then Lindley in false, and that's it.

Why'd you people have to remind me of Jackson Browne? Couldn't resist playing "Late For The Sky" and ripping my heart out for no good reason.

Seriously? I absolutely love Rosemary's verse and voice, and Stay is a great cover all around.

I thought this too, but someone on Wikipedia said otherwise so I must've been wrong. Now I have to go listen to Stay for the eleventy-billionth time and assess for myself.

When you're finished with Late for the Sky and have ruminated over the far too simple beauty of the promises you've made, I think you need a dose of Fountain of Sorrow and For a Dancer to cheer you right up.

Eta: It just occurred to me you were probably talking about the album Late for the Sky and all those songs are on it. Before the Deluge is another awesomely sad one.

I think he was born wistful.

Naw, I only had time for the song. It's one of my favorites.

Except that didn't happen. No one believes her. Even she has recanted to a large degree.

Load Out / Stay

A link to a version of the song(s) from that era. Rosemary Butler is rock solid and was highly regarded at the time, etc.
