Songs that Don't Fit a Category

I had a conversation with a friend recently about songs that don't fit into a particular category of music (I listed a few below). I think of it as the musical equivalent of free verse in poetry. Some are a mix of styles and some are closer to spoken word. My questions for the Music Board are: Am I missing the point somehow? What other songs would you list? and Why didn't other artists attempt to replicate these songs?

Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles
A Day in the Life by The Beatles
Tuesday Afternoon by Moody Blues
Space Oddity by David Bowie
Fire on High by ELO
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
The song about sunscreen from the late '90s.
Stan by Eminem

I clicked on this thread expecting to point out your lousy examples, but those two are actually pretty damn hard to categorize.
