For those of you like me who have been following the Pumpkins from the Gish days on, you will really enjoy this. And those of you who didn't start back then, this gives you a good idea of what they were like at the pinnacle of their career.

I have heard many bootlegs, watched many live recordings, but man...this is the best I've ever seen of them recorded!

Smashing Pumpkins - The Metro 1993

ETA: Here they are from the Gish days, 3 years earlier. This is how I remember them the first time I saw them live. They opened up for the Chili Peppers in 1991 alongside Pearl Jam. Other than hearing their CD a few times, I had no idea who they were really. I do remember thinking before they started that I wished they'd hurry up so I could see RHCP but was blown completely away! Check out the awesome mullet on JC...

And yes, he is among the best. As a drummer I would contribute a lot of what JC did to my style. But I'm nowhere near as good as him, which isn't saying much. Not a whole lot of drummers are. I love how solid he is when he plays the drums and all the little side fills he does. Smashing Pumpkins - The Metro 1990

Def my fav band, so i had to chime in. This is a great show, right at the beginning of the SD saga. Recommended for sure!

Still waiting for THE Metro show (12/2/00) to be released in some format...show was epic!!! I was lucky enough to be there.

Btw, the DVD they released with the gish reissue was not too shabby either (cool setlist and period of the band). Check it out!

Jimmy Chamberlin is easily one of the best drummers of the 90s.

He's great but I hate to put anyone in that category. It is reserved for my personal favorites

Growing up and playing drums in a shitty local band, I gathered a lot of my style from him. I love how he mixes elements of jazz and polyrhythms into hard hitting rock drumming.

Glad I could contribute this thread to everybody. I knew you all would like it.
