So I just bought what was advertised as $25 tickets for Mastodon and Corrosion of Conformity. By the time my order was complete the total was $64 for just two tickets. That seems pretty fricked up that the service and processing fees account for 25% of the total ticket cost.

Is it just cheaper to call the venue and pay via credit card over the phone?

Is this your first experience with Ticketmaster?

No, but considering how many concerts I attend each year I am sick and tired of this shite. I work hard and invest a lot of money into buying tickets and merchandise.

Plus, I am one of the few die-hard fans who continues to buy full-length albums rather than individual singles. I don't download illegally and I do what I can to support these artists. The inflation of music concerts is absolutely out of control.

Mate, stop buying full albums and just join Spotify. You'll save more than enough to account for and offset the TM fees.

and even if you like "rarities" like live and b-sides, YouChube has pretty much everything you want in that regard.

Honestly, I thought it was going to be a lot worse based on what I read in the subject.

We call them Ticketbastard for a reason though

And not have access to a lot of albums plus only have access to shitty, compressed versions of the ones you do.

I was thinking about the same thing the other day. How did bands sell tickets before ticketmaster? Venues would sell them I assume? Plus it would be nice to have cool ticket stubs again instead of ticketmaster generic crap.

I think I paid about $12 in fees on a $15 ticket once.

Back when Atlanta had nearly free concerts in the summer with big bands, I remember paying more in fees than in ticket price several times.

As a follow up, I just bought tickets that were 22/ea. When I added them, they showed up as 29 each, and I'm like, whatever, ticketmaster doing its thing, at least they go ahead and put the fees up at the outset.

So I get to check out, and right at the end there is an additional 3 buck fee. They're such tyrants.

That's what really irked me.

I had to double-check on the ticket price options because when I went to select them they were advertised as $30 each rather than the $25 specified on the Civic Theatre's web site.

Like you said, I figured they went ahead and got every out of the way, but then that piece of shite processing fee reared it's ugly ahead right as I was about to finalize my checkout.
