Had a great time at his concert in the Cajundome.
His music videos were the best!
I watched an interview years ago where he referred to music critics as "frustrated musicians."
I was hoping he would pull through, but realized stomach cancer is one of the worst.
Whose your Dadddy?

Sucks I never got to see him live.
RIP to the king. At least he isn't suffering anymore.

RIP TK.
We've lost too many good stars in the last few years.

He went through both chemo and radiation therapies.
Those will make you really sick.
My grandmother had ovarian cancer at 80 years old and she couldn't handle the radiation therapies and died from it.
My family felt guilt and was ashamed that they put her through that pain. But she wanted to do it.

He leveraged the success of his first album …which was a little country popish…into some really quality songs as he started doing his thing. One of my favorites.

His song should have been a cowboy had three million spins, making it the most popular song of 90s country.

RIP Big guy. NGL, I teared up a little this morning when I saw the news. He was one of my absolute favorites. This one hurts a lot.
Carrie with a very nice tribute to her fellow Okie:
Carrie with a very nice tribute to her fellow Okie:
quote:
"Saddle up the horses, Jesus, ‘cause a true blue COWBOY just made his ride up to heaven!!!" Introduce him to all the Okies and sign that boy up for the choir!"
"We’re gonna miss you, Toby, but my heart has no doubt that you are standing in the presence of our King right now!!" See you again someday, friend."

"Never apologize for being patriotic, f#$k em!"

32 number one hits and another 42 in the top 10, don't fall from the sky.
Not to be that guy, but he had 42 top-10's, 32 of those went #1. Which is just crazy.
quote:
Nashville should be ashamed of themselves for not having him in the country music hall of fame.
PREACH! Hopefully they'll do it posthumously at the CMA's in November.

He was a great patriot.
His support of our deployed troops(USO tours) was almost w/o peer, only Chely Wright IMO compares. The only ones close to them on the country side are Aaron Tippin.
Kid Rock has also done a ton for deployed troops.
RIP Toby.

Another member of the Okie brigade, Blake Shelton, has given his tribute:

Even though I knew about your battle these last few months I still never imagined this day. Anyone who knew you knows what I mean. You were the toughest man I ever met. Thank you brother for being a friend, a hero and an inspiration. There will never be another Toby Keith.

"You know what Waylon Jennings said about guys like him?
They're doing to Country Music what pantyhose did to finger fricking."

Man, not really a fan of Colbert much anymore but that was a great tribute. Kudos.
