*Searched and didn't see anything (SIAP)
Anyone who used Grooveshark to listen to music, they are no longer in operation. I went to Grooveshark earlier to listen to some music while working at my desk and I was confronted with the message below. It was great while it lasted, but it lasted longer than I expected.
Sleep well old friend.

Dear music fans,
Today we are shutting down Grooveshark.
We started out nearly ten years ago with the goal of helping fans share and discover music. But despite best of intentions, we made very serious mistakes. We failed to secure licenses from rights holders for the vast amount of music on the service.
That was wrong. We apologize. Without reservation.
As part of a settlement agreement with the major record companies, we have agreed to cease operations immediately, wipe clean all of the record companies’ copyrighted works and hand over ownership of this website, our mobile apps and intellectual property, including our patents and copyrights.
At the time of our launch, few music services provided the experience we wanted to offer – and think you deserve. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. There are now hundreds of fan friendly, affordable services available for you to choose from, including Spotify, Deezer, Google Play, Beats Music, Rhapsody and Rdio, among many others.
If you love music and respect the artists, songwriters and everyone else who makes great music possible, use a licensed service that compensates artists and other rights holders. You can find out more about the many great services available where you live here: https:// whymusicmatters.com/find-music.
It has been a privilege getting to know so many of you and enjoying great music together. Thank you for being such passionate fans.
Yours in music,
Your friends at Grooveshark

Music ain't free and shouldn't be.
Artists, Roadies, Managers, Agents etc all have bills to pay just like the rest of society. Why should they continue making music if services keep screwing them out of royalties (as small as they are)?
I don't feel bad for GrooveShark one bit.
Thanks for the info.

Grooveshark was great before services like spotify came to the scene. After using spotify, I could really never go back. I started using Grooveshark again the last few months because my new job doesn't allow me to install spotify, and grooveshark can just be run from the webppage. It still was a jumbled mess, but I could usually play some music that I wanted to, so that was nice.
I don't feel bad for them either. They were doing something illegal.

It being a webpage only without video was why I liked it because I could use it at work and make my own playlists and I agree that it became so jumbled lately to the point where "albums" would contain 50+ tracks including everyone and their mother's re-mix instead of the album itself.

Me either. I knew it was only a matter of time before this happened. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I did notice they used to sell a Grooveshark App in the Apple App store for a while and thought that maybe they were using that money as a method to pay for rights to provide the music but apparently not

Where's the person on here who was telling all the Spotify users they were rubes for paying for a service that they could get for free?
Pay up sucka.
