Nice, kind of a Judy Collins folk sound.

I've never listened to Pinback much and really enjoyed that song.

6/10 - It was okay. It was like Queens of the Stone Age got together with Offspring (from the Smash years).

That song makes me feel like I'm in a terrible bar and it's the end of a night.

Purity Ring - Lofticries (really just like the 70s horror of this fanmade film)

Damn, that video is a combination of Hannibal, Scareface, and Natural Born Killers. As for the song itself, I don't think that the arrangement matches will with the lyrics. 4/10.

I cannot stomach Billy Joel, but do respect his acheivements and following (there must be SOMETHING there that I just don´t ´get´).

That song and The Stranger were a big deal.

I also haven't listened to JAMC much or at all, but that was a great song. Reminds me of the Stone Roses.

Here's another Austin band.

1/10 I truly believe waterboarding is more enjoyable than what I just sat through. I minimized the screen thinking my annoyance was from their stupid-over-the-top-look-at-me-antics, but then I realized their music was just as much the problem. Seriously, I have not hated anything this much in quite some time.

No offense

The opening riff is really cool, but the verse kicks in and it gets kind of generic.

It's got a cool groove for sure. Definitely different to hear gritty rock with baritone sax and no guitar.

5/10. I can't get past that the opening guitar line makes me think I'm about to listen to "What might have been" by Little Texas.

So, rate this formulaic pop tune.

6/10 reminds me of a bad version of Teenage Fanclub. Musically it's a fun song, but I have a difficult time getting past the singer/lyrics

Gangstagrass - long hard times to come this was the title song for Justified. I'm missing that show severely at the moment, so the song is in my head. I've always found it pretty cool; it's a mix of bluegrass and rap. Interesting.

10/10 because I absolutely love Justified. That song was perfect for it.

This Bitter World - Kim Yoo Na

I like tossing foreign stuff at you. This is from a great K Drama (Korean Drama) called the Master of Revenge. Kim Yoo Na struggles with English pronunciation a bit, but she gets the depression right.

Tame SSKHKH sensibility there (both are Asian, SSKHKH are Japanese and have great songs in that vein)

Here´s a crunchy one from them:
