Preach! Let's add "people who video at concerts" to this list as well. They spend their entire time there watching the show through the screen of their phone and creating a terrible distraction to the rest of us there who actually want to watch the musicians play. (I have no issue with people who want to get a short clip here and there to have memories; I'm talking about those who just sit there and record most if not all of the show)

if you can hear people talking, you're going to the wrong concerts

Cost aside, this is the reason that I don’t attend concerts much anymore.

I don't understand what the distraction is? I watch the stage, not the crowd.

Ha, agreed! I went to a concert recently given by Hania Rani. She's this cool Polish chick who plays sort of a jazz, classical, EDM/house melange to fun effect.

However.

The crowd was seemingly mostly composed of pretentious soy boy wannabes who were PAINFULLY quiet. IMO, it really eliminated all sense of feel and atmosphere.

Talkers suck and have a special place in hell waiting for them.

I dont care if others take video, the problem is ignorant assholes that hold their phones up blocking everyone else’s view. The absolute worst is the ones in the front row that still feel the need to hold their phones up high.

Yep, and will never watch that video again after they post it to their social media.

This is what I meant. It’s kinda hard to “watch the stage” through a sea of arms and phones.

I guess I rarely go to a show where "talkers" would be able to be heard anyway. What kind of shows do yall mean?

I guess I'm rarely in GA either. I can't think of a single time it was hard for me to see just perfectly from wherever my seat is.

Most of the concerts I'm referring to are metal/hard rock.

Nuggs.net has removed the need for me to video at a show.

Went to the iceman special and boogie trio show at Chelsea’s a couple weeks ago and was surprised/proud to see not many phones in the air

What 3 hour concerts where you can hear people around you talking are you going to? Must be horrible. Sounds like a James Taylor concert.

When their phones are blocking your view of the stage, it's a problem. The vast majority of, *ughem*, "videographers" are holding them above their foreheads which blocks the view of those behind them.

Beat me to it. I imagine the OP is referring to a classical music performance?

I attend on average of 20-30 shows a year. Talkers are really an issue at Jam band concerts, the minute the singing stops people want to talk. You get 2 songs to talk thru then I ask you nicely to be quite. I only had one person tell me to STFU. I gave him the stare and his buddy pulled him to the side to remind him that telling a 6'5 280 pound man to frick off was a bad idea. To his credit he came back at set break and bought me a drink and apologized.

Exactly what I went through at Little Feat last month. No one bought a ticket to hear you chit chat

Sorry, I don't go to all thrash metal concerts.

But seriously, while talking during an average rock song may not be much of an issue, most bands at least have ballads, acoustic sets, etc.

I was at a Paul Simon concert, and while he was playing my favorite ballad of his (Hearts and Bones) this 20is y/o couple was standing in the aisle behing me yapping as loud as a litter of distresses puppies. Had to put a stop to it. Made them leave the area--I feel so bad.

My other concert pet peeve? The artist hits the opening notes of a song people recognize so the crowd proceeds to drown them out for 10 seconds applauding and "woo-woo-ing". Freakin' woo girls...(gratuitous HIMYM reference)
