Motley Crue opened. I was there with four buddies. Our seats were about 6th row but we wound up on the wall for Ozzy. Good damn times.

I was also in that number and recorded / bootlegged the show. Sadly the Maxell Epitaxial XL II 90 cassette and my concert ticket stub was lost in several moves. Motley Crue was touring on their second album - Shout At The Devil. They played 8 songs for approximately 45 minutes.

Shout at the Devil
Take Me to the Top
Knock 'em Dead, Kid
Too Young to Fall in Love
Red Hot
Piece of Your Action
Looks That Kill
Live Wire

Ozzy was touring off his Bark At The Moon album.

I Don't Know
Mr. Crowley
Rock 'n' Roll Rebel
Bark at the Moon
Revelation (Mother Earth)
Steal Away (The Night)
Suicide Solution
Guitar Solo
Centre of Eternity
Drum Solo
Flying High Again
Iron Man
Crazy Train
Paranoid

I’m a huge OZZY (Black Sabbath) fan and left that show believing Motley Crue crushed it and blew OZZY out the water. The Crue was very loud and In The Beginning > SATD was the perfect show opener.

And that’s a bummer.

Huge fan here too. Motley Crue was really good but I can’t go with blowing Ozzy out the water. Now two years later, Ozzy at Lakefront with Metallica opening, you could make that argument.

I remember this being the narrative back then for both shows. Obviously a matter of personal preference, but there were lots of people saying that. And I don’t think it was necessarily that people thought Ozzy was slacking - just the fact that Crue and Metallica were both in the midst of meteoric rises at the time.

For the record, Ozzy is my all time favorite recording artist.

Saw Ozzy at the Omni in Atlanta somewhere close to 1985. It was the worst, loudest most distorted concert Ive ever been to. My damn head hurt for a week

It took half a song to know what he was actually playing....NO idea why it was set up so badly

Take Me to the Top and Red Hot are two of my favorite Crue songs. As I’ve gotten older, the more I realized my favorite band simply became a product of their time. However, those first two album were great.
