Well written song, but it sounds like a lot of other ones.

Using “dropped” instead of “released” will always elicit at least one downvote.

quote:

Verse 1]
There is concrete below me and a sky above so blue
I'm finally leaving Austin and I wish it was with you
I am just a sickness and you seem to be the cure
How much can a southern girl honestly endure?
Remember northwest mountains, they were snow-capped in June
You were napping on my arms on a Sunday afternoon
But, babe, I've gotta heal myself from the things I've never felt
Repression is my heaven but I'd rather go through hell

[Chorus]
It's 'bout time that I left Austin
'Bout time you settled down
With a man who doesn't move as quick
As the train rolling through town
'Bout time that I face
The hard times I've let go
If love was just an ocean
I would drown before I float

[Verse 2]
You remember getting drunk on the outskirts of this town
When I gave you all I had, but it still let you down?
Everyone I've ever loved has either left or died
Wish I was born with concrete shoes, but I'm leaving tonight

[Chorus]
It's 'bout time that I left Austin
'Bout time you settled down
With a man who doesn't move as quick
As the trains rolling through town
'Bout time that I face
The hard times I've let go
If love was just an ocean
I would drown before I float

[Post-Chorus]
Float
Float

[Bridge]
There's concrete below me and a sky above so blue
People ruin people, I don't wanna ruin you
I am just a sickness and you seem to be the cure
How much can a southern girl honestly endure?

[Outro]
And I'm finally gone from Austin
You finally settled down
With a man who didn't move as quick
As the trains that rolled through town
I finally had to face
The hard times I've let go
If loving you was an ocean
I'd have drowned so you could float

The lyrics aren’t really great or anything.

I liked him the first time I heard him, but every song I’ve heard since sound exactly the same. I don’t think the dude has an ounce of vocal range. Maybe that’s the issue.

it's the same inflections in his voice every song. and it seems like an attempt to sound like tyler childers which is a turn off.

Haha whoops. I didn't realize "dropped" was a no-no. Noted.

Anyway, yeah I'm not a fan of this song. It sounds trite- it sounds like Zach Bryan trying to be Zach Bryan. I almost feel bad saying that cause I really appreciate him and his grassroots beginning. I think his first two albums are pretty quality.

What is this guy’s story? My friend’s 21 year old asked me if I listened to him a couple months ago and I’d never heard of him.

got "discovered" through tik tok. was in the navy and got his discharge to play music. wants to sound like tyler childers but isn't nearly as interesting.

I thought it was through youtube, but whatever. He released a few songs that went viral. I thought some of his songs were really good and his lyrics were great at capturing feelings and are pretty insightful for his age. He's definitely a stark contrast to mainstream Nashville pop. I fell like he's in a little bit of a transition phase. He's moving from being in the Navy and doing this as something of a hobby to being a full time musician. He's going to have to figure out his own voice. He's only 25.

He’s totally in my wheel house of what I should like but nothing really draws me in.
