Dude, this is really special stuff. There are so many textures to your music that made me nostalgic for the '90s. I'm hearing so many great artists of the time: Edwyn Collins, The Smithereens, et al. I love the mix of the album as well. So much crunchy guitar goodness.

I've been trying my hand at producing some retrowave/darkwave stuff. Currently attempting to work up the nerve to perform them in public.

Great job.

I’m only giving some feedback because you said you’re trying your hand at it… I’d quantize the phased synth to the 1/8th note, so it lines up better. The high freq “chirp” sound is cool… but see if it sounds cool on other beats. On beat 4 may sound cool too! Just to take up some of the space and let the polysynth have some “me time” in the beginning of the bars. The bass-ish sound at 1:30 that keeps going for a while, it’s rubbing a little bit with the bass. I think you’ll like it better up the octave or maybe a less low frequency sound. The lower you get the further apart you want the notes in the chords to be.

Awesome stuff man.

Appreciate the feedback and encouragement. I haven't found too many people to provide feedback when it comes to synthwave music.

This is my biggest mental roadblock from progressing further right now. I've always played and recorded in live bands with real instruments. I made that song before I realized synthwave artists were all just beating out their music on a piano roll. It's just so hard for me to create that way instead of playing all the instruments live.

Down Low is a really solid track. Great production, and the guitar hook in the choruses is catchy AF. Nice little cover band you've got there too

Synthwave artists are typically playing the parts and quantizing them after. You’re right, no one gets inspired clicking notes on a grid. I’d quit music if that’s how it worked.

Do you know how the quantize feature works by chance? It’s really just as simple as you taking what you already played, highlighting the notes and clicking quantize. It will take you 5 seconds once you know how to do it. Worth it. This track does need it on the record. Now, live? Mute whatever the hell you want and play it live, replace them with live instruments, etc. The work you’ve already done is by far the hardest part, albeit the most rewarding part.

Yes, my DAW can do that. I'll give it a shot.
