We could be talking Guinness Book of World Records here.

I'll start:
Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, Bobby Fuller ...

I was listing younger, AT was older

can't believe I forgot WZ though -- he had perhaps the most publicized illness in rock history

Amy Winehouse

Kurt Cobain

I'm listing non-violent, non-OD and younger

Mick Ronson -- important early Bowie collaborator, he was only 46

I guess Keith Relf would be considered a violent death

The guy in Toto who died from accidentally inhaling insecticide

I don't recall the DOB of Sterling Morrison (Velvet Underground). He died in the mid '90s in his early 50s. Trivia: after leaving the Velvets he taught English at UT-Austin.

I thought of Rob Tyner but couldn't remember when he was born -- doing this from memory

Clarence White died violently

pretty sure Battin was older -- he had a hit single in the late '50s

Death is death in this thread. And since we're talking rock 'n roll, violent death is even better.

Anyway ...

I'm restricting myself to N-V, N-OD

And I don't believe it - all the queens on this board, and nobody mentions Freddy Mercury?
