Killers - fresh look at an old Iron Maiden album

I confess to being a Bruce disciple, but I have always really loved the 1st 2 Maiden albums. However, it's fair to say that, in retrospect, I've taken Killers for granted all these years. Over the past week, I've listened to the whole thing about 10 times, and it's been a revelation. Purgatory is an absolute firecracker - a true hidden gem. Clive is nutz on this track. Drifter is great. Prodigal Son is really out of nowhere, but I could see many cover artists in different genres doing that one.

I'm gonna put it on in a little bit.

That settles it...I'm going to listen to it right now. I too am a Bruce disciple, but there's no denying those first two albums are classics.

For me, the self-entitled debut is their second best record.
Even without Adrian Smith, Bruce Dickinson, and Nicko McBrain the album was hands down the best pure NWOBHM release. The galloping bass lines of Harris and beats of Burr, the twin leads of Murray and Stratton, and the barking yelps of Di'Anno were perfect for the time.

Man I LOVE their sound on the first two releases. Love Di'Anno's voice too. Complements the music perfectly IMO.

One of the most iconic album covers of all time. I still prefer the debut album , runnin free and remember tomorrow do it for me.... The new metallica record covers remember tomorrow pretty good.

Killers is my third favorite IM album behind NOTB and SSoaSS.
Purgatory and Murders in the Rue Morgue are classics! Title track builds amazingly and is very dramatic at the end.
Not a huge fan of self titled honestly.

Love all their albums even the Blaze ones. I like the self titled better out of the Paul albums but killers is still... killer. Love the title track and Genghais Khan are my two faves off of it. Still doesn't touch the first five Bruce albums with SSOASS being my favorite album of all time.

And now I'm on a Phantom of the Opera binge. Hard to believe they did that in '79/'80.
