been hearing good things about this guy and now i see he's playing in nola soon... can anybody vouch for his skills and/or point me in the right direction towards what to listen to by him?
I've been listening to a lot of ASAP Rocky/Freddie Gibbs/Curren$y lately, so that gives you an idea of what I lean toward in terms of modern rap/hip hop

Section.80 is his most recent project that came out last year. That's a project that you just have to listen to from start to finish because each song continues a story off of the previous song. Standout songs are HiiiPoWeR and Ronald Reagan Era.
He has an album coming out this October which has two singles released: "The Recipe" (feat. Dr. Dre) and "Swimming Pools". Both are pretty good.
He also released one of my favorite songs of the year called "Cartoons & Cereal" (feat. Gunplay). Other than those, he's had a lot of solid feature verses on other albums and such. Since you're a Curren$y fan, you might want to check out Talib Kweli's new song that features both Curren$y and Kendrick called "Push Thru".

Kendrick is one those MCs that stand out from the second you hear him. It didn't take long for me to see he is the present and the future of hip hop. He is slated to release an album sometime this year.

I think he is one of the few original rappers. I do dig his style. Im interested to see what he comes up with next.

Kendrick Lamar is gnarly. He works with really great producers and his beats are nothing I have ever heard before. Really well composed and different.
