Hate him, but no more or no less than I hate every other rapper.

Wow, yall are salty as hell. Jay-Z and Ye are not only considered as the best performers in hip hop and rap, but some of the best across all genres. "A disgrace to humans". lmao. Dude's a jerk at times, yes, but he's positively influenced way more people through his music than you two ever will, especially as miserable as yall sound.

Just going to shoot straight without reading the thread. I am warming back up to Kanye. He was my favorite artist for the longest. This was after I didn't like him at first, for doing "Jesus Walks". But when he did "Gold Digger" I was just awed, and it went from there, peaking with Graduation. I loved his music, loved his outburst about Bush post-Katrina, loved some of this singles from 808s, but he started to lose me with the Taylor Swift incident, and Dark Fantasy was not really appealing to me at first.

But after really paying attention to the progression of the message in his music through his 1st, 3rd, and 5th albums (Dropout, Graduation, Fantasy), I really still love his production, and have to respect the dynamic content of his lyrics. He hasn't stagnated like some artists, he's continued to move forward and change both in his production and lyricism.

As a person, I liked him when he was the outspoken underdog overachiever. Because of where he's come from, I will accept his egotistical antics while he's this high on top. Hell, if you were a nerd bestowed with insane riches, popularity, and "love"... I think you would lose it a little too.

I dont understand what was so great about it. It wasn't ground breaking or earth shattering and its not even one of the coolest beats. Dre has some way cooler beats. As for the lyrics, nothing to special there:

Cutie the bomb
Met her at a beauty salon
With a baby Louis Vuitton
Under her underarm
She said I can tell you ROC
I can tell by your charm
Far as girls you got a flock
I can tell by your charm and your arm
but I'm looking for the one
have you seen her?
My psychic told me she have an arse like Serena
Trina, Jennifer Lopez, four kids
An I gotta take all they bad arse to show-biz
OK get your kids but then they got their friends
I pulled up in the Benz, they all got up in
We all went to Den and then I had to pay
If you fricking with this girl then you better be payed
You know why
It take too much to touch her
From what I heard she got a baby by Busta
My best friend say she use to frick with Usher
I don't care what none of you all say I still love her

[Chorus]

[Verse 2:]
18 years, 18 years
She got one of your kids got you for 18 years
I know somebody paying child support for one of his kids
His baby mamma's car and crib is bigger than his
You will see him on TV any given Sunday
Win the Superbowl and drive off in a Hyundai
She was suppose to buy you shorty TYCO with your money
She went to the doctor got lypo with your money
She walking around looking like Michael with your money
Should of got that insured got GEICO for your money
If you ant no punk holla we want prenup
WE WANT PRENUP! Yeah
It's something that you need to have
'Cause when she leave yo arse she gone leave with half
18 years, 18 years
And on her 18th birthday he found out it wasn't his

[Chorus]

[Verse 3:]
Now I ain't saying you're a gold digger you got needs
You don't want your dude to smoke but he can't buy weed
You got out to eat and he cant pay you all can't leave
There's dishes in the back, he gotta roll up his sleeves
But why you all washing watch him
He gone make it into a Benz out of that Datson
He got that ambition baby look in his eyes
This week he mopping floors next week it's the fries
So, stick by his side
I know his dude's balling but yeah that's nice
And they gone keep calling and trying
But you stay right girl
But when you get on he leave your arse for a white girl

So the guy meets some chick in a club, she's slutty and in a club but has a bunch of nice stuff, everyone tells him she just wants his money and she dates all the rich black guys, and has a kid with Busta Ryme, and used to bang usher, and he dates her anyway.

Then hes talkin to a buddy who has a kid and pays child support. And the woman is just havin kids to collect child support and instead of spending the money on the kids she gets lypo and a nose job and stuff. And he wishes he would have gotten a prenup, and when the kid turns 18, he finds out the kid he has nothing to do with and has been sending its whore mom money and not taking care of isnt even his.

And then he talks about a dad doin all the work in a household and giving up stuff he likes and bettering his life and finally making enough money to make his family happy that he leaves them all behind for a white girl.

Am i missing anything?

It's comedy. It's fairly tongue in cheek. Considering that the song came out about summer of '05, when I was 14, I was easily moved by it and this:
quote:

loved his outburst about Bush post-Katrina,

since I thought I knew something. But oh well, i'm expressing my opinion, and so are you, so:
quote:

words cannot express my opinion of you.

Ok then.

I can still kind of identify with him since he USED to be that nerd that I still am. So, meh.

Kanye West is one of the best and most creative rappers/producers of all time.

If you deny it, your eyes(ears) are closed.

No I'm not actually. Kanye is an overrated piece of shite. He is a self-centered egotistical ignorant jackass. Hes a racist that spews hate speech and he isnt a good role model at all. His music is ok but it isnt genius or ground breaking and the guy just isnt that great.

I own multiple Cd's ( some bought, some downloaded) by the following artists/ groups:

Biggie
Tupac
Snoop
Dre
Eminem
Project Pat
NWA
Ice Cube
Three 6 Mafia
Afroman
Bone Thugs
Big Moe
Lil Wayne
Lil John
Outkast
LL Cool J
NAS
Jay-Z
A few more, thats off the top of my head.

I would prob classify Kanye as more hip hop than rap, and im not the biggest fan of that Genre. I do however like rap.

The Kanye part doesn't bother me all that much but bringing in Dylan is just ridiculous.
