It's badass. The '59 Bassman circuit sounds legit as frick with a TS808.

The Deluxe side is sick as expected.

I love it.

I have a 69 twin reverb.

It's beautiful.

There's an original '68 Fender Princeton Reverb on Shreveport Craigslist right now for 1800, and a reissue of the same amp for 650.

I've only played around with fender amps a little bit, but how do y'all run yours? It seems like a lot of the ones I've played are deafening with the master volume at 1.5.

Yeah mine's super loud. Not a great amp for noodling around on in an apartment or such.

My shop's Supersonic 22 (clean channel is supposedly a DRRI clone circuit) is unbelievably loud at low volumes as well. I replaced the 12AX7 in V1 with a 12AT7 (lower gain, lower output tube) and it tamed it down to more usable volumes. It did affect the tone - you will lose that characteristic DR breakup, but that only sweetens up at higher volumes anyway, and if you use an OD pedal up front for grit, it's a relatively moot point. The tube swap is a safe, easy, cheap DIY modification. As a rule of thumb, the V1 preamp tube in most every amp will be the position closest to the amp's input jack. That's true for the SS22, DRs (originals and reissues) and every Fender tube amp I've been around.

Depends what you're trying to play. I'm looking for clean fender and humbucker grit.

On the 68 I'm good for cleans up until about 5.5, then it gets nice and gritty harmonic. It gets loud at that point, but I don't need much more.

I've got a Bogner that is pretty much a JT45 Bluesbreaker clone, and it peels the pain off of the wall at 5-6 on the dial.

If you want a circuit with reverb that's a tad easier to contain the Princeton is a bit lower volume, but I've only played those at guitar stores, so YMMV.

If you're in an apartment and need a quiet noodler, I'd just save some cash and buy a modeling amp or a Fender Champ.

You can find Fender Champ clones for good prices, no reverb, but a pedal will get you there. I have an old Champ that I run through a homemade cab with 2 Celestion 12s and it sounds pretty damn good. I think Layla was recorded on a Champ. I think even that might be too loud for an apartment though.
