Mates, the best route was buying singles - I got the Misses a single in Floor section B2 and I got mine in Floor section B1 - we did a similar setup for U2 at the United Center in Chicago and it was the tits - great seats for face value instead of having to pay twice as much to sit "side by side". Amazing to be this close to the two greatest bands in the world in only 6 months' time

To each his own I guess. I hated coldplay when I first listened to them. They grew on me a little, especially when Viva la Vida came out. I thought that was their best album, and then all the stuff came out about them stealing songs, and my opinion has gone downhill since then. Their next couple of albums have been such fluffy crap that I can't stand them any more.

I had floor seats (3rd Row!)at the Toyota Center in Houston several years back. It was a pretty good show...very cheeseball, but still good. Fiona Apple opened, and I was more excited about that.

I dont get the hate for this band. I think anyone whos capable of playing an instrument would agree this isn't the worst band... The Scientist and Fix you are really really good songs. Might be a DMB type thing where the more popular you are the more you get hated on. I feel like they get misdirected hate though, very dynamic musicians and Martin can write the shite out of some songs.

My guess is the OP was shopping for these tickets to scalp them when he cooked up this phony story.

You'd be correct.

I used to like Coldplay until they sold out and tried to be more mainstream and hip. They're so garbage at it too

"Midnight" off of Ghost Stories was the best song of 2014. I don't love the new album and I hated Mylo Xyloto, but "Viva La Vida" was the best album of the aughts (2000-2009).

The hate for Coldplay in regards to their place in rock history is literally retarded. You could start a "Toad the Wet Sprockeet" thread and get 30 positive responses, but a band that's won multiple grammys for best song of the year and best album of the year like Coldplay gets shite on. Makes no sense.

So is fricking Radiohead but they're still great and get none of the hate. Ditto for Coldplay's best stuff.

First off, not a fan of Coldplay, which is not an unpopular opinion. However, I had a weird epiphany the other day. Most people I know who are into music HAAAAAAAATE Coldplay and call them lame and boring and formulaic and all of that, but they love obscure indie pop which sounds exactly like, you guessed it, Coldplay. It's amazing how such a maligned mainstream musical act somehow inspired an entire generation of "hip" musicians. Same goes for much of Bro Country sounding like a weird combination of Nickleback, Toby Kieth, and Brooks & Dunn.

I hate Radiohead too, and Smashing Pumpkins, but that's for different reasons (lead singer's voice annoys me)

This.

Let's take away "Coldplay" as their band name and take away the popularity of their big hits. Name them something stupid indie pop group name that this board thinks is cool for some reason, then bring some of their stuff in. People will be EATING IT UP.

If sturgell and isbell start getting bigger and start winning the big awards the same reaction is gonna happen when their musical journeys inevitably change. "They sold out" or "its just cheesy now".

Coldplay is a good group. Not my favorite, but songs like "Yellow" and "Clocks" are very good and people let the distraction of popularity cloud their judgment on music sometimes.

Mates, T-minus ONE WEEK for the greatest live band currently on the planet

We've got our floor seats ready, we've got our Starwood Preferred Guest "Suite Nights" upgrade requested at the W Hotel - Chicago, and I've got my J's tightly rolled and ready to go

Let's RAWK

Check these two songs out and see what you think. These are my two favorite Coldplay songs. I'm actually curious in your opinions. These two songs (especially Cemeteries of London have seen virtually zero airplay).

I hate that they deviated from this style of music to the current rubbish they put out.

Coldplay - Cemeteries of London

Coldplay - Spies
