I still stand by ´Careless Memories´. Trash them all you want, I dig that song.

Fact of the matter is, you could take the EXACT same melody, alter the lyrics a bit, remove the dated 80s sounds and production, bypass the woeful video, plop it into the setlist of some critically acclaimed artist and those same people would fall all over themselves praising it.

So, if you removed what's bad about the song, it wouldn't be a bad song anymore? Well, yeah

I didn't realize that Bernie Taupin was involved with this song.
I didn't know it either

Taupin used to have a GREAT show on Sirius where he played classic blues, hillbilly, rockabilly, and other roots music. You'd never know he liked that sort of thing from the songs he writes.

Note: The Peter Wolf who produced "WBTC" is definitely not the Peter Wolf from the J. Geils Band

The arrangement on the original Richard Harris version is great

Mickey Thomas' screeching is indeed painful

No, just parroted hyperbole. It's cheesy as frick and extremely pedestrian, but I could turn this into a shitty song thread and blow it away.

Its arguably one of the cheesiest songs to success ratio ever. That single went gold and album went platinum. Thus the hate

Yes. I agree. If you alter the musical compostition, style, lyrics, performers, mix, producer, and everything else about the song it wouldnt be so bad.

Very insightful

Is his "screeching" on WBTC different than what he did on, Fooled Around and Fell in Love?

The Heat is On by Glenn Frey is the worst to me in the 80's. fricking horrible and played every 10 minutes on the radio it seemed like.
