Most people that don't like Radiohead are the ones you see riding around blaring Staind or Puddle of Mud.

Staind and Puddle of Mud kids are very open about hating their parents.

Radiohead kids keep it repressed and buried.

If I wanted to listen to overblown prog rock, I'd listen to Yes, who at least have a terrific rhythm section. But I can't imagine a scenario I'd want to listen to overblown prog rock, the most soulless, ball-less form of rock music every thought up by mankind.

Radiohead is Rush without a great drummer. And I hate Rush, too.

which is something that those people will never admit.

Radiohead fans will never admit that muscially it's just a knock-off of U2's worst two albums(Pop & Zooropa) with Coldplay's lead singer thrown in a blender.

I don't get the Rush hate on this board. I love Fly By Night and Limelight so, so much.

Thanks for reminding me why only stoners and hippies liked radiohead after The Bends.

I am neither and a love Radiohead, I wouldn't call them the best band of all time, that's a personal perference, but this thread reminds me of the worst this board can be.

It's always like this. Everyone's opinion is definitive.

I'll never admit it because I don't agree.

I was hoping someone would respond with a 1/10 or .5/10.

spoken like a true punk fan, since punk was pretty much a big middle finger to prog rock

I don't agree with most of this, except that Yes has a good rhythm section and of course Neil Peart is a better drummer than Phil Selway.

Like I said, just because YOU don't enjoy it, doesn't mean that other people don't.

These statements sound like they were made by people that have never listened to Radiohead before, which caused them to talk out of their arse.

I think they're one of the best bands in recent history that has a significantly large audience (one of the best bands that will get played on the radio).

Most bands that I think are great have a lot of great albums. IMO The Bends through In Rainbows is just a fantastic run of albums.

I really enjoy KoL too, but I agree, no other band really compares with that run in recent times, save for maybe Wilco(personally.)

Hyperbole. Porcupine Tree is right there with them while doing a bit more substantial exploration with their sound.

That said, even Steven Wilson loves him some old, honest Radiohead:

quote:

You keep me waiting
You keep me alone in a room full of friends
You keep me hating
You keep me listening to the Bends

Several other bands have put out just as many good albums in the same time frame.

Stupid Dream
Lightbulb Sun
In Absentia
Deadwing
Fear of a Blank Planet

Also,
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief

Well... yeah.

Hey, I don't claim my opinion is definitive. Well, except for the fact Radiohead is just a modern day prog band (the stuff about hating prog is just me). I do stand by that Yes is far and away the best prog band ever because A) their rhythm section can actually swing and B) Steve Howe is a great guitarist.

If only we could find a way to delete all of Wakeman and Anderson's contributions...

Anyway, I just find Radiohead to be so British art/prep school music. It's like a Wes Anderson movie, just way too impressed with how clever it is, yet lacking any real emotional punch. (I hate Wes Anderson, too). It's not like I don't like cerebral art. Hell, I'm pretty damn nerdy. I love cerebral art. But Radiohead is nothing but the head. You need the heart, too.
