I saw them at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa last week. It was a good show. Their music gets a little monotonous to me after a while, but they're definitely firing on all cylinders right now.

Wish I could make it, but I can't. I think the new album is really good, and is a big improvement over their last effort

Good show. That opening act was sick though! Rey Pila was their name. Probably the best opening band I have seen since Stone Temple Pilots opened for Ministry in '93

Was there! This is turning into an epic music week. Beck Sunday. Interpol last night. St. Vincent tomorrow.

I saw them open at Cain's. They're sort of hard synth rock.

I saw them in Houston over the weekend. Thought they put on a great show - 18ish songs in just under 90 minutes, all business.

As musicians, they are sharp as hell, sounded just like the albums. Seems like his voice is accurate for the new album, but has changed since the earlier albums. Overall I enjoyed finally seeing these guys, although the bass drum and bass guitar gets a bit monotonous after a few songs.

One thing I noticed - Interpol brought out a wide range as far as the audience went - young, old, weird, and straight...

Thoughts on Rey Pila?

I checked out their only album today and it was badass.

They were much showier than Interpol live. Singer was really energetic. Their vibe was "fun" which made them an interesting pairing with Interpol whose vibe is super serious.

I haven't listened to Interpols newest yet, I gotta check it out.

Last album was so so to me.

This one is, like Weezer, a return to form. Really solid, imo, with the single "All the Rage Back Home" being perhaps one of the catchiest songs they've ever written with a sort of sing-along chant in it.

this record is the same. I like it alright, but it feels uninspired to me. All The Rage is a great track, but the rest are decent. Live all the new stuff sounded great though, so this may be one that grows on me over time.

Yeah that Ray Pila band was great live. I have been streaming some of their stuff, and the recorded tracks are very good too. I was talking to one of the band mates after the show Tuesday, and he said that their new record is produced by one of The Strokes guys and is due out in January.

When the chance comes to see them live again, I will be there and so should everyone else. This may be the next great band. As someone said, very synth rock. Singer reminded me a lot of The Cramps and Psychedelic Furs. Music similar to the Furs maybe. Hard to pinpoint, but there's a definite 80's post-punk/synth feel to it.
