Here's how you do it.

Tim Pierce is a session guitarist from Los Angeles.

Tim Pierce is a beast of a player.

As solid as he is, you would had never guessed that he was the guitarist for Rick Springfield all those years.

I know, right. I guess a gig is a gig when it's paying the bills. I saw an article recently where Tim Pierce was voted one of the top 10 session guitarists of all time.

He's doing music for commercials now. Anything music that you just about hear on TV (major brands) it's Tim that is behind it.

He's not doing gigs anymore but he does sessions from time to time with other artist and fill in tracks.

Dude is so damn talented.

I think he's still doing recording work for American Idol as well.

There are so many killer versions of this song. Jimi Hendrix introduced it to the masses, and others followed. Some of my favorites versions are Roy Buchanan's, Deep Purple's, Johnny Winter's and Poppa Chubby's.

The chord progression on this song used to puzzle me.

ETA: Puzzle me as far as what key it was in and how it worked.

Hendrix played it in Eb, but he tuned down half a step so he could play it in E. In other words, he played the chords one would play in the key of E, but because he was tuned down half a step the net result was the key of Eb.

I think so also. Jack White the ex drummer for Rick is in Nashville doing gigs now.
