But I actually really like Lana Del Rey. Her music may be just as depressing as Sarah McLachlan's, but I think she's a talented songwriter and she has a unique voice.

My wife really likes her. I think she's okay. I prefer it when someone remixes her songs and makes them a little more upbeat.

Sounds like he means that she is manufactured "cool and edgy"-she seems kind of neat on the surface, but is actually lacking depth for the most part.
