I would also like to know so that I can justify having missed on seeing one of the few remaining legends in the music industry.

the review i read didnt say much about vocal quality but did mention he spoke all of 4 words to the audience the entire night and then changed out some lyrics about louisiana for something new. struck me as a sign that it was probably in line with his recent tours with regards to lack of quality/awareness.

That's one more than he spoke last week in Orlando. On the other hand, I wasn't there to hear him talk. And judging by his voice, I probably wouldn't have understood a word, either.

Uhh, I assume the show was in Louisiana yes? Seems pretty stupid to take those parts out and put something else in.

His shows have sucked since at least 1986.

yea, you wouldve thought given a band member from new orleans, his history in the city, the songs he has written here, etc.... thered be some interaction. the lack of seemed like a pretty strong indicator of the shape he was in, even though it wasnt explicitly stated.

I bought my dad and his wife tix for this concert. Dylan is my dad's music idol, and this is probably the last chance he'll have to see him.

Everything I've heard about the show is that it was very good. A local music producer that I know who was there said it was one of the best shows he's ever been to (but I'm sure there is bias because he's an old hippie just like my dad ). However, he said the band was as good as any. Very top notch.

Dylan is also said to have not sucked.

I wasn't there. That's just what I heard.

I guess you aren't too familiar with Dylan..mentioning him and crowd interaction seems odd. Not something he is known for..at all. Enjoy it for what it is. I'm a huge Dylan fan, but he's never been known for crowd interaction or playing to the situation.

I've never been a huge fan, but the Mrs and I decided to go because he is a legend. He played for about 2 hours with a 15 minute break in the middle. He never said a word to the audience though I could care less about that. His vocals seemed a bit off even for Dylan. He never played guitar , but did play the harmonica ad piano a lot. It was not a greatest hits type show and only played a few songs I was familiar with. Even those songs were rearranged. His band was excellent. Overall we both enjoyed and are glad we went. If he ever returns I wouldn't want to see again though.

He's the antithesis of playing to the situation. Dylan went electric

I've been a fan since I first heard "Like A Rolling Stone" back in 1964 or '65. And you're right, he never has engaged audiences with between-song talk. The one exception was some of the proselytizing he did during his Christian phase--and all he wound up doing was mightily pissing off his audiences, who had no interest in being preached to.

actually he did do quite a bit of audience engagement/banter earlier in his career...the "bootleg series vol 8" from 1975 is a great example of that. he (and his band) did dedications for almost every song before they played, and bob was cheerful and downright chatty
