Don't know how to describe what I'm looking for other than to say I'm looking for that "raw and dirty" guitar style like Anders.

if you have spotify, check out the related artists they associate with him.

I find music like that quite often

Some Gov't Mule reminds me of Anders, but Haynes can get super wanky.

New Orleans stoner rock bands like Down, Acid Bath, eyehategod,Corrosion of Conformity, etc.. have similar heavy guitar with dirty tones like Anders has in his live jams. Beware though, the vocals in all of those bands are completely awful. It would be a great genre if it was all instrumental. Instead it is barely listenable.

Down

I think Down II is actually a pretty good album...Phil doesn't really scream a lot on that one, and the lyrics have a lot of New Orleans references. I think it's a crown jewel in the stoner metal genre

Are you agreeing or disagreeing?

The instrumental sects really are great, but that screaming shite and horrid delivery just blows.

I am not sure.. I just dont see a comparison to Anders

I am not that much into either's music.

I am with you on the screaming... was a time for it for me... then I like grew up I guess. Some of it is ok... most is just crap and garbage tier 2391 stuff as you all would say

I do too. Just haven't seemed to find what I'm looking for that's similar to Anders.

Anders' live stuff reminds me a bit of the NOLA stoner rock sound. Pepper Keenan has played on and produced a few of his tracks.

Try Mystic Krewe of Clearlight. Its a New Orleans stoner jam band, all instrumental and featuring Jimmy Bower. I also saw EHG do an instrumental show once that was pretty cool. The singer passed out after the first song so they just continued on without him.

If you're looking for a bluesier, local axe shredder, check out Jonathan "Boogie" Long from Baton Rouge. Has a sick ponytail and really impressed me at Jazz Fest this year.
