Happy 60th Stephanie Mills

One of R&B's more underchampioned vocalists turns 60 today. She first emerged as Dorothy in her much-acclaimed Broadway performance in The Wiz and then proceeded to establish herself as one of the best R&B singers of the late 70s-early 80s. She achieved many top R&B hits and her iconic "Never Knew Love Like This Before" won a Grammy for best R&B vocal performance. Produced by Mtume-Lucas, "Never Knew" inarguably influenced the composition/recording of Madonna's "Borderline" and provided Madge her first top 10 hit and endeared her to America for that time period.
