Is that a USA Hamer?

I liked Hamer when they first came out but they went to shite shortly after Kaman Music bought them.
When Gibson was going through their "don't give a crap about quality" period in the mid 80s, Hamer was pumping out first class instruments. The early Hamer's are some of the finest guitars you can find and a tremendous value.

It's actually a Korean made Echotone. Look 'em up, you won't find a negative review. I put the Bigsby on this one, put t-tops in it, and controls from RS Guitarworks. It's a Gibson slayer now. I might change the nut at some point...

Currently on an '08 Fender Highway One Strat with John Mayer's Big Dipper Pickups from the Fender Custom Shop installed. Had to snag those puppies up before Mayer was officially gone from Fender

Those aren't really the pickups Mayer uses. Fairly close I suppose. But look into Klein Jazzy Cat's if that's what you're really after.

Remember those magazine ads for Hamer?

"Extraordinary guitarist...extraordinary guitar"

Except for Johnny Ramone.

That one simply said "The extraordinary Hamer guitar"

Considering they came straight out of a JM signature strat, I'd have to disagree.

You would think, but I'm telling you, those aren't the ones. It's fairly well known that the the JM sig strat pickups aren't the ones that are actually in JM's strat. It's kind of a fricked up deal.

Oh, the Black One. Yeah, that's the holy grail

These pups are sweet, though.

I was about to come back and specify that I was talking about the Black One, ha ha. The Klein Jazzy Cats are supposedly clones of the Black One's pups. I have a set and they're daaaaaaaaamn close, anyway. Since I built a strat using them, I haven't plugged it into anything where I wasn't blown away.

Yeah, those Klein's aren't cheap, either. The demos sound delicious.

No question. Dude makes a great pickup though. I've used Klein's and Lollar's, and for the money I'm sticking with Klein going forward.

You like your Line 6, then? I picked up a Fender Mustang III a couple of years ago. I have to admit, it sounds pretty damn good. It doesn't quite nail the feel of a good tube amp, and I wouldn't gig with it, but as a quick, easy, grab-and-go practice amp, which is what I bought it for, it really shines.
