Way too heavy to play any length of time. How Page pulled it off in concert at his weight I'll never know.

They use the bottom for some songs and the top for others. It's a 12 string and a 6 string. You're not going to use the 12 string in every song.

You wouldn't wear that cumbersome guitar if you weren't going to use both necks.

Canadians are great (my experience, a ton of fun), Robinson is shite.

It was Levon's band.

slightly off topic but Robbie's book Testimony comes out in mid-Nov. It'll be interesting to see how he contradicts Levon's narrative, also convenient of him to wait until Levon passes to do it. I'll read it, already ordered, but yea, frick him.

but make no mistake, as a guitar player, the dude was brilliant

For my money, it doesn't get any better than Christopher Cross performing yacht rock on a double guitar while wearing an Earl Campbell jersey.

Don't care what he says to justify it, it's just for spectacle.

Playing live it is sometimes needed to try and duplicate the sound as it was done in the studio on certain songs. Don Fielder with the Eagles playing the intro to Hotel California on the 12 string neck, and using the 6 string neck for the solos, and Page doing the same on Stairway to Heaven, are probably two good examples.
