Oh I'm sure, I'm saying I've never heard it done outside of college towns, even in the south

What horrible bar did this travesty happen in

Back in the 80's when I use to hit the bars, no song grew more participation than Jimmy Buffett's 'Margaritaville'. Billy Joel's 'Piano Man' comes to mind.
Does this still reign true? Is there a song that has taken it's place? I'm just speaking for the 80's crew.
When I was in school The Bengal always closed to the song "Captain Jack" and everybody sang along. Do they still do that? Is the Bengal even still there anymore?

"starts with an Earthquake"...
The only legible verse.

One of my favorite moments of my life was sitting front and center at Pat O's during my Bachelor party and everyone singing American Pie at the same time as if we had all known each other 20 years. Then a USA chant ensued. It was American as frick.

Hank, why do you blow smoke?
That is not the correct lyrics btw

I believe the correct term is "roll smoke"

I used to go to a bar in the early 90s, it was disgusting type of bar.
anyway, at least once a week they would play fugazi waiting room and a good chunk of the bar would sing along, at least for the chorus.

Not true. My wife is from Logan, Ohio. Those rednecks up there sing the shite out of some Hank in the bars.

That sounds a whole lot cooler than in the early 90's the bars of south LA particularly ones in baton rouge where everybody seemed to singalong to:
Hank Jr - Family Tradition
Garth Brooks - Friends in low places
David Allen Coe -You Never Even Called Me by My Name
Jimmy Buffet - Margaritaville
lastly and even though I love the band, I cringe at the thought of those nights with a full college bar singing Drivin-n-Cryin - Straight to Hell
