One of the most talented guys I've ever heard on their particular instruments. The guy just becomes the mandolin. Maybe not everyone's favorite voice, but damn he can play that thing. Any fans?
Skip to around 3:30 if you just want some mandolin playing. Great song to listen to all the way through though.

I have seen him live with Punch Bros twice and he just amazes me. The further ya dive into his catalog, you discover just how good he really is at the instrument.

quote:Seen him and/or his various bands maybe seven or so times. Favorite memory: around 2000, after a Nickel Creek show at the House of Blues, I hung around for a while inside then wandered out to the Decatur Street artist entrance. Danged if Thile wasn't leaning up against the wall out on the sidewalk just playing scales and classical riffs for ten or so of us amazed fans for what seemed like an hour.
Any fans?
He. Is. The. Man.

Yeah, Man. Seen him several times.
Some guys/gals are simply meant to play (wish I was one). Some do solo well and some work in pairs or groups. Chris does both well. If your a fan of string band's this oneis pretty-damn-tight.
Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart (no fiddle) Duncan , Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, and Aoife O'Donovan
