New Chevelle single.
Has there been a more consistent band in the 2000's? Everything they release is solid.

“Shameful Metaphors” is one of my top 10 songs of its decade.

Yes, Deftones. But no argument with Chevelle kicking arse

This new single is as Chevelle as it gets!

Possibly their best album if the rest of the tracks are as good as Self Destructor

Chevelle is a band that I am completely unfamiliar with, for whatever reasons. I know their name and Send the Pain Below, and that's pretty much it. Based on this Self Destructor tune, I'll have to check out more of their music.

ETA: Looking through my iTunes library, I have This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In.) Gonna have to give it a listen.

Aside from their debut Point #1 every albums sound quality and song quality are top notch. To me there's not a filler song on any of the last 7 studio albums.

So I gave This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) a listen and I have to say that I've heard this Tool album already.

As if being compared to Tool is a bad thing. I never got the comparison though. Chevelle has virtually no prog influences, they're just straight up hard rock/metal. I guess the melodics in Pete's singing can be compared to MJK but to me the similarities stop there.

Their tone and mixes are similar to Tool, but what they actually play is very different. As said, chevelle isn’t nearly as proggy. Chevelle uses far less mixed meter and poly meter (weird time signatures) and their songs don’t tend to drag on for f$&king ever.
Chevelle is like a stripped down Tool with less technical skill, but that knows how to get to the f$&king point.

You're correct on tone. I forgot to mention they both use Joe Barresi.

Perfect breakdown. My band and I enjoyed playing their music. But staying in tune was always a problem given the low tuning.

Track is amazing. If the whole album is like this, look out

Chevelle is a Top 5 band for me, but their last 2 albums were trash. hopefully this gets them back on course. Get back on the Sci-Fi and Hats off train pls

There’s a lot of ways to mitigate those issues. The most common way is by changing your strings to a different gauge and by reworking or changing your nut.

A lot of bands that play most of their stuff tuned down actually use 7 string guitars.

Trash for the last 2 albums is pretty harsh. I wasn't crazy about La Gargola when it came out but it's a great listen now. And The North Corridor has some bangers. Door to Door Cannibals, Rivers, Last Days, Shot from a Cannon are standouts but the whole album is great. It is nice this track has a Sci-Fi vibe though.

I miss their early stuff. Vena Sera, Wonder what's Next, and This Type of Thinking were incredible.

Sounds like Pete is really bringing the heat on vocals for this album
