Never was a fan of Slinky's.

Chelsea's and Bogie's were my bars in college.

As for the OP: sounds awesome. I love Zappa.

I've literally only been there for the pub crawl. Northgate/Library used to have some good local acts play but I haven't been there in about a year.

ZeeZee's is the spot if you can take over the jukebox.

Interesting. I might check this out. Can anyone say anything more about the band? Is it supposed to be a reinterpretation or something?

Captain Green is a good local jazz/funk band. Recently they started doing tours along the south. They used to have a badass guitar player play with them but I think he plays with someone else now.

Last time I saw them was at Mud & Water and they opened for Bernie Worrell Orchestra. They definitely don't disappoint. Their keyboardist is pretty damn talented but I do wish they still have their guitar player. I wonder if they will have someone play with them.

Like I said in the OP, for $10 you can't beat it.

They no longer have the black guy in the middle or the dreadlock sax player in the front. They were probably my two favorite members of the band when they were all together.

I would like to see someone line Denton Hatcher to play with them

edit: they also have a big black drummer

Really? That's lame AF. They were my favorites too. Big guy on keys annoys me.

He hasn't played with them the past few times I've seen them. He's at the show but not on stage. He'll get up and do a song or two but that's it. The guy is phenomenal on the sax though

Sidenote: I hear he's the Baton Rouge music scene's pussy king. Taggin' wookies left and right

I could believe that. I've hung out with him a couple of times, he's a cool dude.
