Ive had my Taylor 314ce for several years and I love it. They all have such a bright sound. But I would also agree with whoever above said look on Craigslist. There are so many steals on there. Guitar Center in Baton Rouge has some nice acoustics in their used section right now worth checking out.

Don't get anything that comes in a box. If you're serious about starting up playing just go ahead and get something decent in the price range you stated. If you decide to give up or stop playing for some reason you could always sell it easily if it's a decent guitar.
