I just learned that Incubus and Deftones co-headlined a tour a few years ago (with Incubus going on last). I saw Incubus open for Deftones in 2000, right around the time they were getting really popular. Taproot was on that tour too, opening for both of them. They had a few hits.

What say you, Music Board?

Does it count if the opener hadn't hit it big yet?

I saw Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins open for RHCP

Yep, that's the idea. Great picks.

Unless I’m forgetting something, it’s probably The Meat Puppets opening for Built to Spill at the Howlin Wolf in 2008.

Superdome in July 1978. Rolling Stones were the headliner, Doobie Brothers were the leadi-in. Opening act was some California-based band most of us hadn’t heard of who had a minor hit with a cover of an old Kinks song:

One of the best shows I've ever witnessed. Appetite just dropped a week or two before the show and the Cult was touring for Electric. I got a promo copy of Appetite and really was digging it but the songs were still fresh when I went to the show.
