Watched this last night. A telling look at a man who is probably the most talented - and almost assuredly the wildest - drummer of the 20th century, Ginger Baker.
Guy has been off his fricking rocker since 1939, but good goddamn he can play the drums.

He's an a-hole but he can sure jam.

In the documentary, it talks about Baker just showing up to some Blind Faith rehearsals before any recording was done, and Clapton was essentially too afraid to tell him to get the frick out.

This is one of my all time favorite rock n roll stories. Cream essentially broke up because no one could stand Ginger, and then he just follows Clapton to his next gig.

Loved this movie and how honest it was regarding him being just a grumpy, mean person. A lot of music docs try to sugar coat the musician and breeze past the negatives.

Grumpy and mean might be an understatement.

The guy could play like few, however.

The way he treated Jack Bruce, damn. Baker even admits how great a talent Bruce was, FFS!

Neither one quite expounded on it. I'm not really sure what the source of hostility truly was.
Since watching it, I've started to listen to the Graham Bond Organization. Solid stuff.

And no one is THAT good to be that big of an a-hole.
