I was going to start a Beatles thread today, but I'll just throw this in here...

I can't get into them at all. I figure as loved as they are, I would like their music. My parents didn't really listen to the Beatles so I haven't grown up with them. I try to like them but I just can't really feel it. Maybe I am just not listening to the right songs... but you know when you are listening to a song and you think to yourself, "man, this is some good stuff", I've never done that with any Beatles song, but there are probably tons I haven't listened to. I thought it was an era thing, but there are other 60's bands I really like.

I find Boomer nostalgia to be truly repugnant. I just have no interest in these old farts refusing to let younger generations have their turn at being young (which they are gonna do anyway, so it's fruitless as well).

Now, I do think the Beatles are one of the most influential and greatest bands in pop music. We are playing, largely, in a sandbox they built. And I don't think there's anything wrong in acknowledging that or saying thank you. And to give credit, Paul seems more comfortable with younger artists than his fans are. He shows up to the Grammys and the like to give his endorsement to whatever it is they are doing. He's not usually just clinging to past glories. And if he can still sell out a stadium, good on him. I don't get mad at Tony Bennett for keeping going.

But the more myopic fans need to get over themselves. Music has moved on. A new band being great does not impugn the Beatles. It's okay to look forward.

First and foremost, Yoko is not now nor has she ever been a Beatle.

As for the worshiping part, entertainment icons have always had shines built in their honor. Some folks have to have that in their lives.

As for McCartney popping up everywhere, I guess he figures he doesn't have much more time to enjoy the celebrity status he earned. I'd rather see him than Kanye "I'm an a-hole" West and Bubble Butt Kardashian.

Actually, she was an artist of some repute before she met Lennon. That's what drew him to her. But letting what other people like bother you is a sure fire Gen Dumbass trait.

It's completely okay to not like the Beatles. You aren't the only one.

I love the Beatles am you g, enjoy lots of new music and couldn't tell you what yoko looked like. I especially love hearing today's artists cover Beatles songs, because they were amazing songwriters. Grace potter does a great job with a number of Beatles songs

A little before my time but you can appreciate their genius songwriting, melody lines, and harmony. Help is literally 2 minutes of genius.

Yeah. The Beatles are so overrated. They are definitely not music that I'd put on a playlist for a party!
