Has there ever been a greater live show in the history of recorded music?
The original Band of Gypsys album is amazing, but the 2000 release of several more songs from those two nights absolutely blows it out of the water.
Some highlights:
-13 minute version of Stone Free that peaks impressively around 9-10 minutes; some of his best work
-The absolute best version of Voodoo Child I've ever heard; I think that alone is definitive proof Hendrix sold his soul to Satan.
-Burning Desire - the interlude breaks into a 50's-esque blues set that is amazing.
I find myself coming back to this album and it seems to get better every time. I mean GATDAM how was that guy so good at guitar?
Hopefully I'm brining this to someone's attention who's never heard the re-release.

I have only heard the original album but it still ranks as one of my favorites. Thanks for the heads up.

Machine Gun sends shivers down my arms. The most amazing performance ever. What is on the rerelease? The one I have if from the 80's.
