Switching to smaller discs...
Tower of Power--"Monster on a Leash"...1991.
Folks, this is a highly rhythm-funk driven album with some powerful horns (powerful even by TOP standards).
If you listen to Funk the Dumb Stuff off the above album and don't think is is a slam-funk, you need to have your head checked!

Don't know how to post a pic from my camera, so....
All Them Witches, "Dying Surfer Meets His Maker" white vinyl.
Great album. Picked it up after seeing reviews on this board.

Greg Allman "Laid Back"
Favorite track has to be "These Days".

As I stated way earlier in this thread, this is, IMHO, one of the greatest records ever recorded.

My brother got me that one as a gift. Good gift! He hadn't heard the record he just bought me a bunch of albums when I got my turntable. It's great one

So I went to Barnes & Noble earlier today and picked up 6 new LPs...this was one of them...
Pat Metheny Group--"American Garage"...1979.
I really have an affinity to this "smooth Jazz" genre that started in the very late '70's and dominated the modern Jazz scene in the 80's. Pretty much the entire catalog of GRP (Grusen-Rosen Productions) I liked. Musicians such as Dave Grusin, The Rippingtons, The Crusaders, Acoustic Alchemy, Pat Metheny Group, Spyro Gyra, Patty Austin, David Mann, Dave Benoit--to name a few.
I used to listen to WWOZ Sunday morning smooth Jazz show frequently from 1987-1989 and picked up on a lot of these artists. I brings me back to a "happy time" when I listen to this stuff--Juinor/Senior in HS at the time--life was carefree and fun all the time!
Enjoy the record if you can listen to a copy of it...

I picked up a bunch of gems out of my dad's collection and this was one of them. Sounds incredible and the record is in great shape
A few of the albums sound rough and hopefully a good cleaning will clear them up, but this album (and Billy Joel's "The Stranger" from the same collection) sound like brand new pressings.

Listening on the small rig tonight...
Zebra--"3.V"...Atlantic Records, 1986.
I actually like this record better than the self titled debut album which is the most popular. There are some really great songs on this record.

Not a problem! I think you'd dig all of his/their stuff. I've been reading up on that gear you suggested and I've just about got my mind made up to go in that direction. I'll be in touch soon.

Another one I picked up this past week...
Rush--"Roll the Bones"...Atlantic Records, 1991...reissue on 200g vinyl by Quality Record Pressings, 2015.
I am playing this for the first time right now--this is one of my favorite Rush albums (along with Presto)--this is possibly one of the quietest, cleanest, and blackest background records I have experienced in a long time--not a single tick, pop, or even surface drag--it is DEAD QUIET...what a great pressing!!

I'm looking to buy a pair of bookshelf speakers for my home office. Room is 11 x 13 and will be sitting about 9 feet from them. I am looking at the Sonus Faber Venere 2.0 and the KEF LS50. Anyone here own those?

What will you be driving them with?
