Just bought tickets for me and a buddy. Figured it would be an easy little road trip to get out of BR for a day, and floor tix were only 30 bucks. Is there anything neat nearby or worth doing? Never been to this great Louisiana city.

I'll be there. Looking forward to it

I'm going. You got a hell if a deal on tickets. Face is $55. Since it's a Monday, there probably won't be much happening. There's a bar called Bear's that will be the most likely spot for a good pre or post concert drink. Plenty of decent restaurants and the casinos are always an option.

Yeah I saw last week stub hub had tickets for $17. Is it all GA?
Posted on 5/28/14 at 10:13 pm to TheGrouperFingers
Stub hub is where I got it. They had 2 ga floor tix for 30 a piece with no extra charges so it was 60 even for the two. They had other actual seats for 16.30 each. It appeared that its all GA either floor GA or seating GA

Did you know he was playing in New Orleans the very next day? Seems like that would have been an easier trip than Shreveport.

he's playing at a historic new orleans venue the very next day…a 75 minute drive versus a 4 hour drive. what the frick?

First off, enjoy the venue. He's playing at The Shreveport Municipal auditorium, a National Historic Landmark and home of The Louisiana Hayride.
If you are staying downtown, you've got a plethora of casinos to choose from.
For bars downtown, I suggest Stray Cat and Noble Savage. If you go to Stray Cat, sit in the New Orleans-esque courtyard. Also, if you are really smashed, you can order a pizza. But beware, it's just a Digiorno. If you go to the Noble Savage, I highly recommend getting something to eat. No b.s. The menu is really good and the chef knows what he's doing. It's more focused on wild game. Also, depending on the night, Noble Savage can have some really good music.
I'd recommend eating at Noble Savage, Marilynn's Place for po boys or Herby K's for a dozen raw, shrimp buster and an ice cold beer in a fishbowl mug.
Check out the Great Raft Brewery
And if you are feeling sluggish the next day...get some breakfast and pie at Strawn's by Centenary College or a cup of joe at Rhino Coffee.

On April 3, 1948, a new program named, The Louisiana Hayride, began a weekly showcase of talented singers, songwriters and performers. Little did anyone realize the impact that would be made from the stage of Shreveport's Municipal Auditorium. The Louisiana Hayride became known as The Cradle of the Stars, because so many international stars began their careers on this program. Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, are just a few of the acts that went on to stardom after performing on The Louisiana Hayride. Perhaps the most prominent performer to begin his career on the stage made his performance debut October 16th, 1954. That is when the world was introduced to Elvis Presley!
Elvis was signed to a contract to perform every Saturday night on the Hayride for $18 a show. Colonel Tom Parker "discovered" this phenomenal talent and bought his contract for $10,000 dollars after 18 months, but without a doubt, it is on the stage of Shreveport's Municipal Auditorium that Elvis developed the techniques that launched his career into stardom. The audiences averaged around 2,000 per show and for a while, The Hayride was nationally broadcast on CBS radio and became a staple of Armed Forces Radio programming. Although the weekly programming ended in 1960, the Hayride was regularly scheduled through the 60s.
Many African American musicians played at the Municipal Auditorium as well. Blues musician Huddie "Leadbelly" Ledbetter, originally from Shreveport-Bossier, became well-known for his song "Good Night Irene". Other influential African American musicians who have played at the Municipal Auditorium include James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Bobbie "Blue" Bland and B.B. King.

I'm aware. I'll be at both shows. Was already planning to go to saenger show with my wife, but the tix were so cheap for shreveport im gonna do both. Itll end up being about 200 for tickets and travel since I'm splitting gas with a buddy on the way to shreveport.
Just was seeing if anyone here was gonna be at the shreveport show.
