I like these guys. Probably deserved to be somewhat bigger.

The trumpet player (actually multi-instrumentalist), Dave Max Crawford, played in the marching band at Lee High and then in the Golden Band from Tigerland in the early 80's. We grew up on the same street. I did not realize he had rejoined the group until I came across this. Awesome guy and a very talented musician too.

If you're not familiar with them: Very mellow and really quite good. Excellent quality video.

I used to love the first side of their first album. Listened to it all the time. Saw them at the Varsity after leaving school. Terrible concert. Sid Straw opening was better.

I had their first full studio album. Can't remember where I heard them to make me want to buy it, maybe 120 minutes on MTV???? Or KLSU?

Could be either one. I never saw them on 120 minutes but it's very possible they were on it. Hell, they actually had an appearance on Letterman in the early 90's.

Yeah, same issue. May have been MTV. May have been one of my friends. KLSU as well.

They were on 120 minutes. I can vividly remember Dave Kendall mentioning them b/c that's when I first heard them. Their first album charted on the college charts. I never really got into them. I was younger and not into that world music sound they had. I probably would appreciate them more now.

Yeah I hear ya. Judging from your music posts, I think we like a LOT of the same shite. My primary taste is heavy, but I do like a LOT of different genres.

Check out the video. Maybe you'll like it. Like I said though, it is very mellow. I like seeing my old friend and it's cool that he's a GBFT alum too. That's the main reason I posted this. Wanted to give him a little exposure here.

Good for Dave.

I loved Poi in the early days.

But when Frank moved the base to Chicago they kinda lost me. The electronic/dance music was not my taste although we still listened. I haven't check them out in a while, thanks for the reminder.

When PDP was big, it wasnt really my jam but I saw them live quite a few times and enjoyed the show. The best was at b-ham city stages.
