I know a few folks on here have mentioned the station before in other topics, but if you are a music lover with a variety of tastes, the music programming on the station is pretty great IMO. In a one hour period you might hear Traffic, The Shins, Leo Kottke, The Meters, The Clash, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, The Allman Brothers, XTC, Buddy Guy, My Morning Jacket, The Runaways, Jimmy Cliff, New Order, BeauSoleil, Elvis Costello, Jeff Beck, The Pixies, Chet Atkins, Sly & the Family Stone, Florence and the Machines, Frank Zappa, Eddie Cochran...A Syd Barrett Era Floyd song may be followed by Leon Russell, which is in turn followed by Big Country or The Replacements or Toots and the Maytals or Nick Lowe, then some Ska song..then Buck Owens..it's pretty cool if you have diverse tastes. The other day I heard "2000 Man" by The Stones off of TSMR, which is a great song that I've never heard on the radio before...even on KLSU or WBRH. Yesterday they played "Ten Years Gone" by Zeppelin.

They seem to emphasize album tracks over hits. I think on most weekdays they have music from about 9am to 4pm, then from 6pm till 7am the next day. The downside is their signal is not strong...so if you live outside EBR Parish, it is hard to catch. Even in Zachary or Denham it starts to get choppy and you start to catch that Alexandria Classic Rock Station instead(which is also better than 98.1 IMO). Anyway, check out 96.9 if you can pick up..I really have been enjoying it.

I'll need to check this station out. I've been looking for a good station to listen to when Walton & Johnson are on commercial in the mornings

The 96.9 I listen to comes out of Alexandria, KZMZ. It's usually better than anything on the stations here in Lafayette.

It's a great station

They even have my buddies band The Hitchhiker in the rotation...some local BR talent that's worth checking out

And 98.1 is losing its "touch"
I heard TOOL "Stinkfist" on the eagle the other day...made me feel old

This.... As far their music programming goes....one time I listened for about 10 mins of this talk show where these guys sit around and rate beer and other booze... It sounded interesting, but I was bored after awhile. I tuned back in later when they were back to playing music...and I had beer in hand....that worked out much better.

I know how you feel..I guess it's only a matter of time before Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Green Day, White Zombie, RHCP, Foo Fighters, etc are the staples of 'Classic Rock'. Where's my walker and Depends stash?

It's a great station cuz they play mostly obscure /b-side tunes. I heard em play an ole Waylon song I thought I would never hear on the radio. Next they played Kraftwerk

"Classic rock" will always be a certain time period. I think of it as 1965-1979.

Great station. Low power station and sometimes hard to pick up but good music mix none the less.
