Al Pacino plays "Dr. Death" (Dr. Jack Kevorkian) in this made for TV movie.

I watched it last night and thought it was pretty good, although slow. Pacino pulls off the eccentric Dr. Kevorkian really well. I think this role fits well with the aging Pacino.

My only problem with the movie is the length. It was slow, but if it would have been shorter this wouldn't have been a problem.

I need to see this because it will be nice to see Pacino in a role with no screaming monologue.

Yep, it is not his typical bad arse cop or gangster role. He does do a little screaming, but only because he is an opinionated old man.

I thought it was really good, if you like political, biographical type movies. Makes you think about life, death, and the U.S. legal system. I think in certain cases of terminal illness, you should definitely have a right to have a doctor help you kill yourself.

I agree, some of the people he assisted in suicide had a terrible quality of life. So much so that death was certainly an escape from the pain they endured every day.

I thought it was great. It gives you good insight on why he was doing what he did, and how he finally ended up in jail for it.

The best acting in the movie is not done by Pacino, it's done by his attorney IMO

Insightful post and I agree with you. The most interesting aspect of the movie is learning the truth about Dr. Death and what he was all about. Its unfortunate he didn't have the foresight to see that he was going to end up in jail through basically representing himself.

I liked the attorney also. He pulled off the pompous TV attorney very well.

just started watching this. I have always agreed with most of Kevorkian's ideas and practices so this is right up my alley.

No you shouldn't. It's plenty easy to kill yourself w/o the help of a doctor. People do it all the time.

So you are advocating that these people take suicide into their own hands rather than have a doctor, who knows what he is doing, help them?

Obviously you have not watched the movie. Many of his patients tried and failed to commit suicide. One guy even doused himself in gasoline and lit a match, but the good ole' doctor wouldn't help him die because he was just clinically depressed.

I have no problem with a doctor helping somebody whack themselves, but don't believe doctor assisted suicided is a right.
