I saw this from the trailer, but I don’t know if the full scene ever made it to an extended / directors edition. Anyone have a physical copy?

hat's fine to have that opinion and it seems to match the critics' opinions, but it's an incredibly cynical view.

i guess i mean cynical in that it was a love story between the two main leads using Beatles songs in and endearing way. i didn't take it to explore the entirety of the world and the effects of not having the Beetles in it.
it's like anytime you have a 2012 or world of the wars movie where you're in this giant event, but we're just getting one group of people's story and journey during the catastrophe. sure there was a larger scope to explore.
honestly, taking the story to it's max, we see 3 people in Europe that remembered the Beetles, and fortunately one of them knew enough music and was talented enough to reproduce the music.
i love music, but am completely talentless in the area. if i were one of the ones that remembered, it would be completely wasted. they had a tightly written story about the one guy who did know most of their music and had the talent to reproduce it,
so i say "cynical" in that yes, the worldwide phenomenon could have been explored more and in more interesting ways, but this was a love story about a musician that could never get over the hump and his best friend that's been in love with him using Beetles music as a vehicle.

I thought it wasn't sentimental enough.
saw this after I TL;DR'd myself. i thought it was perfectly sentimental in the story it was trying to tell, not as it could have been.

I really really really enjoyed this movie. I wish they wouldn't have cut the scene with Ana de Armas out.
Something...
I was going to post this as one of my favorite scenes. And it's not even in the movie.
Edit: Gawdammit, they cut the music out of the scene! If I knew that was going to happen, I would have downloaded the clip. Oh wait, the music is still intact in this post of the same scene.

if they got together to figure out what all they still remembered that the world didn't and profit off of that or reintroduce it to society.
Remembering lyrics to a song is a cake walk to trying to rewrite say the entire Harry Potter franchise. Imagine trying to bring that to the world w/ out anything but memory. Assuming they'd even read the books or seen the movies!
And Coca-Cola? Good luck figuring that recipe on your own.
The Beatles songlist may have been the easiest fortune they could have made, but Jack just uploaded it all for free!

i'm not a musician, but do know my music.
I could much more easily rewrite Harry Potter with about 70% accuracy and a good editor than i could redo the entire Beetle's catalog.

I read the books, watchced the movies, so fleshing out an outline for HP would be doable. But making a coherent, well written book? Meh.
Look at the trouble Jack had with Eleanor Rigby. That'd be me on some songs, but page 295 of Harry Potter? Forgetaboutit.

hence why i said good editor.
my family watches HP every year at Christmas so I've seen it a lot. read all the books once, a couple twice I could rewrite all of them with probably getting 90% of the plot points covered and probably about 70% of the overall deadon.
the thing about music is that there are a ton of songs, i can sing word for word, if the the music is going. take my favorite song of all time and i can sing the entire thing in the car without a single queue.
outside of hymns, you take away the queue of music itself and i'm out.
anyways. great movie. love it.

And Kate McKinnon was EASILY the worst part of the movie. I can’t fricking stand her and thought she absolutely sucked in this.
After rewatching it, I think they completely nailed it with Rocky. He was the likeable screw up who barely gets by in life but always has that smile and attitude. Any more of him, and he'd be the reason things go sideways with Jack's life, career and relationship with Ellie. Happens so often, where the lead guy screws up yet his hapless friend says or does something at the wrong time, and it all comes tumbling down.
Glad they didn't do it with him. He was just the right amount of idiot to make things funny yet not a totally witless clown to distract from the main story.

The one scene that always gets me is when he's visiting John Lennon and Lennon tells him "You want a good life? It's not complicated. Tell the girl you love that you love her, and tell the truth to everyone whenever you can."
They did a great job casting (and with makeup) someone who looked like a 75 year old John Lennon.
I always liked how when the man and woman who also remembered the Beatles finally catch up to Jack and he thinks that he’s gonna be busted, but they both say they’re just happy getting to hear the music again.
